I haven't played it, but I've watched enough Youtube videos of it to know that I'm not missing much. But as for me, I know of plenty of games from the titular series that are phenomenal! And I've prepared a list! I love lists...
-Jurassic Park, Sega Genesis (Or Super Nintendo if you were a square and didn't want to see the rad T-Rex in front of the Sega logo). This game is probably one of my favorite Sega games of all time. Somewhat reminiscent of the X-Men games, which have you navigating somewhat linear terrain and fighting dinos as Dr. Grant. But you got to choose to play as a raptor too! And as a kid, that blew my little mind. Not to mention how eerie and cool the dinosaur animations and music are.
-Jurassic Park: RAMPAGE EDITION!, Sega Genesis (Or SN...once again, if you were a freedom hating square.) Pretty much copy-paste what I just wrote above, but with new levels, more action, more weapons, and the ability to ride dinos as Grant. It's awesome.
-The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Playstation. This game took the original formula of the Sega games, and upped the ante by throwing in even more diverse environments, obviously better graphics, that sweet gratifying sound of entering in cheat codes successfully, and playing as even more characters including The King...The King of Kings...dundun...dundun...on your knees dog*insert Motorhead song here*. Playing as the T-Rex is awesome, but after recently playing it, I have no idea how I ever beat this entire game. It's ludicrously difficult. Also, super cool concept art.
-Warpath: Jurassic Park, Playstation. Super fun fighting game featuring tons of awesome dinosaurs with variable skin tones, and even a museum for you to read about them! Brutal, multiplayer, AND educational! Who'da thunkit?
-Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, Xbox, PS2, PC. I originally had this for PS2, then Xbox, and now PC. This one is my absolute favorite. You get to build your own Jurassic Park. If that doesn't make you giggle like a school girl who just walked into class and saw the TV that means you get to watch a movie today instead of do classwork, I don't know what will. You get to customize the shape/size of the island, including mountains, rivers, and foliage. You get to customize the layout of your park including various rides. And most importantly, you get a wide variety of dinosaurs to breed, or engineer I suppose (after acquiring their DNA of course!). It's strategic and incredibly gratifying to live out your dream of being the prodigal son of John Hammond. Not to mention that if you get it for PC you get to throw mods in the mix. BUY IT! BUY IT NOW!!! Or you know...later? It's rather expensive now, but if you're lucky, you might score a good deal on Amazon or eBay.
So go forth, forget about the tragedy of recent and play the good games of the past that we still got out there! Luckily the series has been rather good at producing quality games, and hopefully there are even better ones in store for us in the future! Fingers crossed for a sequel to Operation Genesis....
