1. Horned dinosaurs: Triceratops
2. Triceratops are a genus of herbivorous dinosaurs from the family of ceratopsids. The name Triceratops is translated from Latin as "three horns".
3. The triceratops in physique resembled the appearance of a rhinoceros.
4. A quarter of the length of the animal's body was accounted for by a massive head, which was girdled with a special bone shield from behind.
5. Professor of paleontology and the famous "hunter for dinosaurs" Othniel Charles Marsh first found the petrified remnants of the horn of Triceratops in the US in 1887.
6. An interesting feature of the development and growth of Triceratops horns was identified by paleontologists John Horner from the University of Montana and Mark Goodwin from the University of California.
7. The young Triceratops possessed horns only 2 cm long. With their growth and development, the horns lengthened and bent backward.
8. It turned out that as the animal developed, the bone collar also changed its shape. Triceratops babies had sharp spines along the edges of the collar.
9. There is a well-known opinion of scientists about the appointment of the bone collar of Triceratops.
10. However, recent studies of Triceratops confirm the hypothesis that has now become very widespread.
11. This hypothesis also applies to the bone collars of Triceratops.
12. American researchers carried out a very interesting analysis.
13. In the course of the study, it was found that the temperature of the bone shield of the raptor was 1-4 degrees below the body temperature of Triceratops. This fact can serve as a proof that the collar served as a heat-transferring organ.
14. However, the temperature of the dinosaur's horns, also having a network of blood vessels inside, varied even more.

Nice facts about the long-time rival (and food item) of Tyrannosaurus rex.
