CompsognathusMember0 XPApr-29-2013 12:17 AMWho else loves the combination the last 3 jurassic park films have had when it comes to animatronics and CGI. I personally am worried that they will go completely CGI in the fourth film... What do you guys think they should do?

CompsognathusMember0 XPApr-29-2013 10:34 PMi prefer robotics to cgi only a small bit because cgi is becoming flawless yet with robotics i can actually see that its there and not added in, in the jps it was very hard to tell especially the third but i could still tell a few if jp4 can astound me with new cgi technology and animatronics i may change my oppinion

Life cannot be contained, it breaks walls, crashes through barriers sometimes painfully, but uh... Life uh, finds a way

Spinosaurus Rex

CompsognathusMember5 XPMay-01-2013 5:26 PMYeah i agree there should be some robotics in it

CompsognathusMember0 XPMay-30-2013 3:15 PMI definitely suggest robotics, because up close the animation doesn't look as real nor is it as exciting because it looks like less work was put into it. It also lets the actors interact and feel like they are actually next to a real dinosaur a little bit more.

CompsognathusMember0 XPJul-04-2013 3:03 AMWell they only use animatronics in the close up shots. If you look at the t-rex scene where she emerges from the paddock, the reason that scene worked so well was because they mixed the use of animatronics and CGI perfectly. When you could only see the rex's head or upper torso, it was animatronics (think of the eye looking into the window/ the head breaking through the glass etc). When you could see the whole body, it was CGI (think of Grant holding up the flare/ the lawyer being eaten etc). For some reason the CGI seemed worse in JP3 than it did in JP1 and 2. I guess the dinos CGI effects are better hidden in scenes shot at night than day time, and JP3 had more 'day' scenes where u can see the slight imperfections. As for JP4, it's not about picking one use over the other, it's about blending them together perfectly to convince the audience that what they're seeing is real...at least that's my hope.
